Testicular Fortitude
I had one heck of a time today…I totally floored a brand new Forester 2.0XT hehe…using a detuned WRX engine and pushing out 177 ponies, this SUV is da bomb! Ok enough about praising let’s get on with the show.
Went to Subaru with Ben to collect the Forester, was greeted by a very cute marketing exec. Called Michelle who gave me the keys to my turbo-charged baby. WOOHOO!!! Yes!!! The car was so new it had no ERP unit, no nothing…and its mileage was just a mere 24 clicks (I returned the car at 158 clicks hehehe…roughly rounded Singapore 3 times)
I got to drive first from AYE to ECP I let the still pre-run-in conditioned Forester have a taste of my rock solid right foot. Floored the accelerator till the turbocharger kicked in around 80km/h. Midrange torque and speed was amazing. The monster pulled from 80 to 150 in like 3 seconds. I ate literally anything on the roads for breakfast. *Evil Grin >:)
Next up was to get the bike mounted on the THULE roof rack at Ubi Techlink before we proceeded to East Coast for the photoshoot. Damn I had so much fun revving the car till I lost track of time. The Forester too attracted loads of attention from tourist and locals alike, it was too cool. People were coming up to us and commenting that our $4000 Scott mountain bike was awesome and the Forester looked simply stunning. It’s an image thing that’s all I’ve got to say. People thought Me and Ben were professional bikers hahaha!
Before I knew it we had to bring the beast home ?…BOO!!! Unwillingly I drove it back in the direction of Leng Kee, but of course not before I ate a done up lancer for dinner and a RX300. The car is freaking stable, that’s AWD for you. I was doing 150 plus on ECP on the way back and it felt like 100 only. And the roar of the turbocharger kicking in gave me a pure adrenalin rush. Only bad thing was no BOV…or not it would have been even more song! (Song is a hokkien verb to describe an event or occurrence that brings great satisfaction to the bearer)
I will leave you now with some pics I took using my Sony 717 with 10x zoom at East Coast Park.
