BeLated

13th April marked my baby’s coming of age as she entered into her 2nd decade here on earth. How did we celebrate it? How about a gorgeous seaside candlelit dinner at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa…hehe…The setting and mood was so relaxed, I finally got to unwind a little after what seemed like an eternity.

Togged out in the latest from HK, Erin was just splendid, I marveled at my girlfriend for a little while before we got down to business. She does have a great sense of style, and knows how to command attention. (What a feast for my eyes!!! =P)

Accompanied by serenading Pinoys and the slight ripples of the ocean in the background, I was ready to have a hearty feast. We ordered the Norwegian seafood soup that came with salmon chunks and other shellfish. (Verdict: it smells suspiciously like laksa, 1/5 yucks!!!) Deep Fried Crab cakes with some fruity sauce (Verdict: nice and tangy! 4/5) and 2 steaks, ribeye for Erin and a sirloin for me.

Now the 2 steaks were very well done, but what stole the show were the sauces! 3 to be exact! There was the same fruity sauce that came with the crab cakes, a homemade BBQ sauce that was almost perfect and the tomato butter…this spread literally killed any sauce I have tried with steaks since I started eating cows. Yes it’s that good!!!

Over the weekend we caught 2 movies as well, here’s my honest to goodness review.

Be Cool: The sequel to Pulp Fiction its supposed to be, but cult status it will not, some parts of the movie were just flat, but I must say Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson kinda saved the show for me for his portrayal of a gay bodyguard that raises his eyebrow as his best acting skill. He had me in stitches, adios Travolta and Uma you guys are passé, and wrestlers are “in” now hahaha (3.5/5)

Samara: Someone should have just named this the Ring2 so I wouldn’t have watched it. A remake of the Japanese horror series shot up with a dose of Hollywood SFX. Story is almost identical save for the part where mother and child get ambushed by a herd of crazed bucks that seem hellbent on redecorating their Volkswagen Passat. Otherwise pretty scary stuff, it made me close my eyes during those intense moments. (3/5)

Oh well, guess I better end here, getting sleepy…
PS: To my baby: I love ya, Happy Birthday!!! MUACKz~!!!

Politics

Overloaded…to take charge and sorta lead by example is something hard to do, especially if your new and never asked to be in-charge in the first place. I know it’s no point whining, but hey…this is what my blog is for right?

I have work stockpiling and no end in sight, no pointers to heed, and somehow I feel I’m firing blanks at the ominous night….

NOT!!!

Let’s examine the good points about my current situation, I can finally step out of “you know who”(s) shadow, and the spotlight will glare down on my shriveled corpse for at least the time being. Heck, I’ve gotta do this sooner or later, doing it now would save me a couple of years of hardwork, and if I fail…at least I died trying.

Perhaps this week lesson lends its basis on internal politics. There’s so much dirt running under me its best to stay clear of any of the hiccups. Been trying my very best not to take neither sides nor upset anyone in the process but alas working life is fraud with uncertainties.

Let me cite an example, as you all know I own a GETZ and this car has a pretty healthy following on my sunny island with a huge club and a forum to boot. Lately, because of some unforeseen circumstances, forum moderators were being taken down and stripped of all privileges without any warning. Naturally heads starting talking, the ousted mods cried foul and left their beloved club to set up other clubs of their own.

Cronyism as one such victim said, look that up in the dictionary. I didn’t know such legacies still existed in our digital age. I’m not sure about the reason behind my predicament, other than its bordering on absurdity and total ecstasy. But one thing is assured, I like what I’m doing, its tough, someone has to do it and I’m glad that someone is me.

Erin’s at her prom night now, probably enjoying herself, last I heard she was conveyed official photographer haha! You go gal! Waiting for her call to confirm whether or not we’re catching Miss Congeniality 2, I hope she calls soon…oh wait she’s calling already.
Just got off the phone, her classmates are going over to CHIJMES for drinks. Well I guess I have to end here, gonna join her for drinks and such…Laters!

Testicular Fortitude

I had one heck of a time today…I totally floored a brand new Forester 2.0XT hehe…using a detuned WRX engine and pushing out 177 ponies, this SUV is da bomb! Ok enough about praising let’s get on with the show.

Went to Subaru with Ben to collect the Forester, was greeted by a very cute marketing exec. Called Michelle who gave me the keys to my turbo-charged baby. WOOHOO!!! Yes!!! The car was so new it had no ERP unit, no nothing…and its mileage was just a mere 24 clicks (I returned the car at 158 clicks hehehe…roughly rounded Singapore 3 times)

I got to drive first from AYE to ECP I let the still pre-run-in conditioned Forester have a taste of my rock solid right foot. Floored the accelerator till the turbocharger kicked in around 80km/h. Midrange torque and speed was amazing. The monster pulled from 80 to 150 in like 3 seconds. I ate literally anything on the roads for breakfast. *Evil Grin >:)

Next up was to get the bike mounted on the THULE roof rack at Ubi Techlink before we proceeded to East Coast for the photoshoot. Damn I had so much fun revving the car till I lost track of time. The Forester too attracted loads of attention from tourist and locals alike, it was too cool. People were coming up to us and commenting that our $4000 Scott mountain bike was awesome and the Forester looked simply stunning. It’s an image thing that’s all I’ve got to say. People thought Me and Ben were professional bikers hahaha!

Before I knew it we had to bring the beast home ?…BOO!!! Unwillingly I drove it back in the direction of Leng Kee, but of course not before I ate a done up lancer for dinner and a RX300. The car is freaking stable, that’s AWD for you. I was doing 150 plus on ECP on the way back and it felt like 100 only. And the roar of the turbocharger kicking in gave me a pure adrenalin rush. Only bad thing was no BOV…or not it would have been even more song! (Song is a hokkien verb to describe an event or occurrence that brings great satisfaction to the bearer)

I will leave you now with some pics I took using my Sony 717 with 10x zoom at East Coast Park.
