Boggling

Just uploaded my collection of the Mercedes Fashion Show pictures, don’t know if their gonna be featured or not but oh well…hope you enjoy the babes I featured! I feel a whole lot settled today, why? Cause I cleared a whole truck load of work today, been watching it steadily stockpile over the past few days and finally I cleared them all with just one seating!

Top of the mind, Turbo-charging my Getz! Received an early morning SMS from Kelvin today, his offering to sell me his FIAT UNO turbocharger plus intercooler plus turbo timer plus BLITZ BOV for a measly $350. That’s friggin’ cheap…but installation wise and the other modifications I have to do to my car to accommodate the turbocharger will cost like 3K! Damnit!!! I wanna be the 1st TC-ed Getz in Singapore! Guess I will have to start saving.

Terrance my editor asked me to accompany him to Serpang for a track day this Saturday, I got 2 problems with this, though its been like my dream to drive to KL and attend one these monster events. 1, I have to go to KL and back on the same day, that’s like 1400km I think, and on Sunday I have to wake up bright and early and go to Pulau Ubin to cover a bike event – I’m not the Duracell Bunny. 2, my car riding on stock exhaust system will probably be not able to make it to KL, expect to see me carrying a red and orange triangle stuck in some palm oil plantation along the NW Highway. But it isn’t confirmed yet, lets hope I don’t have to go.

Oh and finally, I will be driving a Subaru Forester STI tomorrow!!! Yeeehaw!!! Ok it won’t belong to me but to Motorimage, but its for an article in my mag. We are supposed to load the Forester with bikes, rollerblades, wakeboards, ice-coolers and shopping bags just to show how outdoorsy the Forester really is. Looking forward to that…imagine a TC-ed auto SUV at the hands of a 25-year old…hehehe…

WOW

Hey I managed to do it 3 days in a row…BLOGGING that is..what on earth were you thinking? Listening to Class95’s Love Songs now…sigh…Ok enough of the sappy crap, I totally did nothing today! Didn’t step into office till like 6pm (hence no pics of yesterday’s event, promise I will post them up tomorrow =P)

Went to AMK Autopoint today to install some car gadget thingy for my car, for which I still don’t really understand how it really works. After installation, I had my car dyno-ed and Lo and Behold! I gained a massive 3.3bhp!!! WOW!!! OMG!!! Unbelievable!!! Ok it was pure rubbish, I didn’t feel a thing, and the little black box in my engine bay had a cool blue LED light bulb that glowed! @_@ - (insert WOW 3x time)

A good $180 bucks for a plastic bulb thingy. Thank goodness it’s FOC for me. Otherwise I would have shoved the stupid matchbox up someone’s ass. I won’t drop names, but it has something to do with your car’s spark plugs. The ordeal took like 4 filthy hours in the badly ventilated, motoring oil smelling environs of a overgrown multistory carpark.

After that I went to meet Ben and Vivian for lunch in town. Vivian’s the cute promoter girl we hired for our sports event a few weeks earlier. Had a good chat with her about more opportunities where we can “work” together hahaha! Around 6 I popped back to office to finish my work and upload yesterday’s pics to my mac before heading to tampines for my ritual car wash with Kelvin (army bud), Janet (best friend/ fairy godmother), Alvin (car-washer/ part-time m’sian salesman) and Jeremy (apprentice car washer/ Subaru sales guy).

There you go, what I did for the whole freaking day! Cheerios!

PS: I still don’t feel any difference to my car, though the dyno chart says my torque has improved tremendously…whatever.

Gulp!

Trying to blog everyday is tough…but I realized it helps me to express myself better. Well here goes. I can sum everything that happened at work with one word today, SHIT. My best bud in office Ben is 99.99% confirmed leaving his post, which means no ads for my mag which in turn will lead to its eventual demise. Melodramatic? Anti-climax? (Background: Editor for my mag bailed last week)

Let’s look on the bright side, one less mag for me to write, one huge problem/ worry solved (I’m not very sports-orientated). On the other hand, the work which I have done, the sacrifice which we made will all go up in smoke (pun intended). I really like that shiokness factor of watching something you created take flight and succeed…well I guess I would never know now…

All wasn’t just gloom and doom though. Went to the Merc Fashion Show thingy at Taka earlier. Kinda of an eye opener, cause I never attended a full-out fashion show with a 10-metre long catwalk. The media and celebrities were there and I even got to talk to Dick Lee for about 5 minutes, Najip Ali about 3 seconds, Michelle Chong and Quan YiFeng 2 seconds. Well…you get the idea…anyway I got pics!!! Though not much of the fashion show thanks to a flat batt. !@#$.

Well that’s all for today, will post the pics up tomorrow. Adios!

Bitchin'

Last Sunday I graced Dreamcar Asia’s Dress Up Kar Event 2005(DUKE) uninvited. Why? Not that my job required it, but I saw opportunity…well…sorta…Large congregation of automotive gearheads equal frontpage scoops. “Don’t need to cover it, they never invited us” so my “superior” said. Luckily I don’t heed advices easily, why? Well his Rex was parked there on the very same day as well.

Why that overgrown car-story hoarding !@#$. Well so much for being in the same boat. I guess it was all for one and one for himself! Anyway let’s get back to the event. No we weren’t the official mag. CARMA was – how quaint. Yea and they had a massive number of booths there like a grand total of 4. WOW…there was DUKE, Nokia, Carma and Cool&Lite. Jolly good show I say.

The apparent lack of sponsors didn’t deter the motoring junkies from turning up though. Quite a crowd from start to end, not to mention the big workshops turned up by the numbers to showcase their latest projects. I was reading somewhere which stated tonnes of racequeens from Japan to be seen. All I saw were 2 local lasses acting coy about being racequeens. Don’t get me wrong, they were friggin’ hot but umm…Where’s my JAPPY racequeens?!?!

Possibly one of the highlights or maybe the low points was the winner of DUKE, an overgrown Estima with a floor scooper attached to its front, ENV’s Auto-Road Cleaner anyone? Goodness that’s like soooo 2001… I trekked over to the Rally ditty, not expecting much. Made my way to the starting line where I got a good shot. Not much really, Evo’s, Rexes, GTi’s, S13s – read BORING. Can’t wait for the Tuas track to be finished, then perhaps motorsports in our tiny island may finally take off!

Instead of the show, what I found more satisfying was combing the surrounding carparks for chiong chias, unearthed a couple of gems among all the posers. Really nice! Whilst for the rest of you morons, here’s some sound advice.

1. Seat covers with Ralliart on them should not be put in any car either than a Mitsu

2. TRD means Toyota Racing Development and NO they don’t do Hyundai(s). Same goes for STI, MzSpeed, MUGEN, NISMO

3. GT-wings are best left on Cars with the GT insignia and not your pathetic Vios or Crummy City.

4. Decals are nice unless your driving anything below 2000cc

5. For the uninitiated, Neon lights under any part of your car do not…I repeat DO NOT mysteriously add additional horsepower to your engine

6. Blowing your engine at traffic lights is ludicrous when your driving a 1.3L auto-car.

7. Having branded steering wheels, gear knobs, pedals and handbrakes do not make you a better driver and for that matter faster either.

8. Empty vessels make the most noise – this line holds true in the automotive world

9. Having 4 or more exhaust tips DO NOT make you faster.

10. Want to go faster? Save up and buy a better car! Duh!

I went all the way to Kallang for these 2? Well...its kinda worth it! ha! Posted by Hello
