Highlander

Ok, I'm back, fresh from a trip to chillin' (temperature-wise) Genting Highlands with Erin and my army buddy and his GF. Who knew hot & stuffy M'sia would actually be have a city built atop a couple of sky-high cliffs that seem to overlook clouds and experience nearly airconditioning-like temperatures all year round. The trip via coach reminded me of last year's Redang trip, it's a 7 hour long patience tester. Thank the heavens for the ICE (In-Coach Entertainment)

Ridin' On 25"s
I must say, coaches have come a long way since the lousy excuses of transport we had a couple of years ago. Firstly, my bus came with it's own air-propelled suspension - easy on the legs and somehow alot more stable too during the tight bends of Genting. Then there's the multitude of foglights and a really neat built in rear spoiler. Oh and the bus rides on 25" wheelies. Inside, it gets even better, there's only space for 16 peeps which means you get double the area you're normally allocated in a conventional tour bus. Oh and did I mention the seats we were given looked like Osim massage chairs? They even came complete with massage functions. The best part is that every seat gets their very own 12" LCD monitor with in-house movies, MTVs and games. Now I ain't particulary fussy, but the movies were pretty recent, how does KungFu Mahjong sound? The games were pretty old though, from the Super Nintendo era. Nevertheless I had a blast playing FFV all over again.

Summarised Trip
We reached Genting a little shy of 5pm, checked into Genting Resort - strangely there wasn't any resort-like facilities to warrant the name. Then it was off to First World to scour for grub. Food came in the form of Kenny Rogers Roasters. Finishing the white meat, we wondered around the huge environs of First World's shopping arcade till late and returned back to our rooms in preparation for the next day.

The next day me and Erin caught the movie Aeon Flux after we enjoyed a sumptous feast at the Market Street Food Court that served food court stuff Marche style. After that we bolted over to the Genting Skyway and took the 30-minute ride up and down the mountain. After that we had dinner at the Kopitiam Food Court which served this stone grill thingy where you grill your meat over a flaming piece of knife sharperner. Nice. After that it was snooze time in preparation for our departure the very next day.

What I Liked About Genting
Nice Weather - Its cold 24/7
Some pretty good deals on Big Brands
Cheap Movies

What I Didn't Like
The Food Leaves Something To Be Desired - Esp. Sushi King
Lousy Hotels
Don't Go During Peak Periods if you hate children

Oldbie

Isn't life cruel? I can still remember during my childhood years, how I kept wishing I was older so I could emulate whatever adults could do. But now, having turned 25, I'm praying that time stands still so I can retain or regain my youth. I envy kids nowadays.

They don't know how shielded they are from the harsh reality of the outside world. There's always food on the table, and you don't have to worry about earning money. Alas that is not to be for me. I won't say that I've adapted well to working life. Its been three years since I last picked up a book and memorized the crap out of it. I don't even know if I still have what it takes.

Anyway enough of my inane ravings, I'm a quarter of a century old and what a blast I had sharing it with friends and family alike. Erin brought me to Lawry's for a nice dinner, ambience was great, plus the waitresses wear funny french maid outfits... Erin also got for me a super-stylish Pierre Cardin wallet together with my favourite cake from 4-Leaves; Coco Exotic! Thank you so much babe, it means so much to me to be able to share the moment with you that day. =)

Even my colleagues celebrated my B'day with me (a first in all the companies I worked for), Christel & Amery treated me to wicked plum sauce duck pizza plus booze and a lip smacking chocolate cake plus a box of ALMOND ROCA - yummy!!!. (Thanks guys!)
